Hello Dawn! A money lenders license is usually given to a person whose business is that of money lending and you can either apply as an individual or a corporate body, in which case you want to carry on money lending business in your company or enterprise.
To do this, you need to make an application to a chief magistrate in your jurisdiction and carry certain documents along with your application. The documents will differ depending on how you are making the application. If as a company, then your application must be in your company's letterhead and bear its seal. Carry along a certified true copy of CAC Form 2 and CAC Form 7, memorandum and articles of association of the company, certificate of incorporation, tax clearance certificate, police clearance certificate and evidence of maintenance of a current account under a licensed Bank.
For application as an individual, you need to produce your tax and police clearance certificate along with your application.
When this is done, your license will be issued to you on assignment by the Chief Magistrate. The issued license is renewable after one year. Hope this was helpful?
